Interviews

Who is using the website and how do they feel about the current site?

Destinee

Executive Director of Feed My Sheep

  1. What is your role in the organization?

    I am the Executive Director.

  2. Can you tell me about what Feed My Sheep does?

We provide food, clothing, and personal hygiene items in the form of our blessing bags, and any other items needed by clients that are referred to us or simply come to us for help.

  3. What started your career in nonprofit organization work?

  4. My past experiences started in college when I became the President of the American Humanics Student Association and held that position for 4 years. This was an organization that prepared students to become professionals with nonprofits, whether it was to start their own or to work as an executive in an existing non profit.

  5. What experiences did you have in your field before working for Feed My Sheep?

I was an Executive Director with the Boy Scouts of America, I was a project coordinator then manager at Hands on Atlanta, a Clayton County CASA- Guardian Ad-Litem with Clayton County Court, a Literacy Council and ESL tutor, and served on the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity in Clayton County. I have also worked with The Furniture Bank of Atlanta and Full Radius Dance in Atlanta as well.

  6. What means the most to you about your organization?

I am so proud that the vision God gave us is manifesting into a ministry that God gets ALL the glory for everyday.

  7. Can you tell me more about your staff?

  8. We have an outstanding Board of Directors with so many different talents that will help build God's ministry for years to come.

  9. Did you create the website and what was the goal of it?

  10. Well, I created the website with the foremost thought of creating a warm and inviting site for those that were in need to be able to come and feel welcome.

  11. Was there any reasoning behind the colors you chose for your branding?

  12. Our ministry's colors are purple, white, and gold, so those are the colors I incorporated into the site. Purple and gold are colors of majesty and royalty.

  13. What is featured on your website?

  14. We have our basic website, and then we just added our newsletter and two spinoff sites for our men's and women's closets. These sites also have similar themes to the original.

This interview with Destinee, the executive director of the company, allowed me to better understand who Feed My Sheep was and what services they offered. It also allowed me to investigate the design choices they made for their website.

Ansley Stone

Student

  1. Who are you? What do you do?

I am a student at Clemson University studying International Business. I am from Columbia, South Carolina and love to spend my time volunteering with nonprofits and other organizations as a way of serving God. I have worked with many different organizations in Columbia as a volunteer.

  2. Have you ever volunteered with an organization aiming to eradicate hunger, specifically on a local level?

  3. I have volunteered with food pantry organizations in Richland Two and also have worked with Harvest Hope and the Oliver Gospel Mission.

  4. What is important to you when picking where you want to spend time volunteering?

  5. I grew up as a Christian and still am a Christian today. I think when picking somewhere to volunteer it is important to me that they are doing things in the community that are beneficial, and it is a plus to me if they are a Christian Organization aiming to spread the love of Jesus.

  6. How did volunteering affect you personally?

  7. Volunteering throughout my childhood allowed me to understand the importance of helping others in my community. It also impacted what I want to do for a living. I want to study business so I can better serve my community and meet the needs of the people around me.

  8. When you visited the Feed My Sheep website, how was your experience?

  9. I clicked on the website and it loaded great! looks like it’s meant for a laptop, but it loaded fine! when I clicked on the volunteer application it gave me two options: download or view. At first I tried downloading it but the file downloaded onto my phone as a word doc so it was kinda weird. Then I just viewed the document which pulled it up great as a pdf. The only thing is that I have no way of filling it out on my phone unless I use a photo editing app. So it would be easier for me if it was a google form or something because it wasn’t super obvious how to fill it out or where to submit it!

  10. Based off their website would you want to volunteer with them?

  11. Yeah the mission itself sounds super cool! I’d have the mission statement higher up on the website though because I had to scroll to find what it was about. But it seems super cool. I might would refresh the website a bit and make it look newer.

This interview with Ansley allowed me to understand the viewpoints of a user for the site. It also allowed me to narrow down what is important based off of hierarchy.
